I have definitely had time to acclimate to Blochers Jewelers since my first blog entry. One thing I found difficult at first was getting to know each of the employees here. But as the newest member of the team, I had a nice perspective of the group dynamics. Everyone works very well together and I had wrongly assumed personalities would clash. Let’s face it, when you get a group of females together in somewhat close quarters, tension is bound to rise. This is simply not true at Blochers. I think what makes this the case is the one thing Mary Blocher requires of all of us: that we love our job. I was pleasantly surprised how well all the personalities fit together. Let me give you an introduction, in case you haven’t met everyone yet:
Mary- Ever generous with her time and attention, Mary is the epitome of an awesome leader. She knows when guidance is necessary or when the hands-off approach is best. When it comes to excellent customer care, she leads by example and everyone is treated like family. I believe her heart really is made of gold AND encrusted with diamonds.
Peg- AKA Pegalicious. Peg adds a certain spark to the workplace like no other. She is a pro when it comes to handling people and all the office stuff! She is very sensitive and caring yet witty and fun. She is also an amazing cook!
Chrissy- A mom of two young boys, she is also still a kid at heart. She has a fun and playful personality, but don’t let that fool you. This chick is on the ball knowing every customer and their jewelry like it’s her job. Well, in this case, it is her job.
Mary Ellen- AKA M.E. or “Emmy.” I wish that Mary Ellen was my grandmother. This lady is very sweet and unassuming on the surface, but with a quick wit and silly sense of humor underneath.
Darla- She is the queen of the charms, bracelets, and all that is Pandora. Darla is quick to bring you into her circle and treat you as if she has known you her whole life. If you give her your attention, she’ll have her phone out to show you pictures of her “kids” (the four-legged kind) within one minute.
Jennie- I believe that Jennie is one of the sweetest people I have ever met. She is always incredibly pleasant and kind to customers and her fellow coworkers. If I had a big sister, I would want her to be just like Jennie.
Conversations behind the scenes are always light, heartfelt, or meaningful. It is rare that I spend a day at work without laughing at least twice. One of the staff’s favorite things to do is speak in silly accents (and I’m currently working on my Scottish to join in)!
So stop by and see us! We’re a collection of rare gems as diverse as the selection of gifts and jewelry in stock. We’re your neighbors right here in Ellwood City. We’ve been around for a long time and we have no plans of leaving anytime soon. Or ever. So why not get to know us?
